Being new to carb cycling, it’s taken a bit of time to adjust and understand the best eating habits but I’ve learned a couple important lessons already.

Keep the carb count low in the morning.  It’s easy to get carried away and throw too many carbs at an early meal and that makes for some tough evening meals where you have no carbs to spare.  There’s plenty of protein and fat to add in all of your meals but carb cycling is about keeping those carbs low every three out of four days and you’ve got to plan ahead.  I much prefer eating my carbs in the evening, as that’s when I’m most hungry.

Eat a lot of veggies.  Today was the first day that I had 2 pounds of green beans and some asparagus in addition.  The reason?  Greens fill me up for a while and they add great carbs while keeping the carb count low.

One more low carb day tomorrow and then I get to start the week by eating a whole lot of carbs.  That reminds me of my final lesson learned.  Don’t add too much protein too quickly on those high carb daysm as I learned in this post!
